Keynote Address: Children’s Reading Comprehension: Past Research and Future Directions

Bio:

Jane Oakhill is Professor of Experimental Psychology at the University of Sussex.  She has worked on various research projects in cognitive psychology, but has always maintained a research interest in children’s reading comprehension (in particular, individual differences).  Jane Oakhill has published widely (including about 110 refereed journal articles and has co-authored or edited nine books).  Her books in the area of reading and comprehension include: Understanding and teaching reading comprehension: A Handbook (Routledge), which is co-authored with Kate Cain and Carsten Elbro. She has recently won prizes that recognize the impact of her research: Runner up in the ESRC’s “Celebrating Impact Award” (Outstanding Impact in Society), 2016 and winner of the University of Sussex Research Impact Award (Policy and Practice), 2016.
